OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Appropriately see, review and manage patients’ Physiotherapy needs in the CoRSU hospital outpatient clinics and the wards. Handle patients within the hospital expectations and limits of Physiotherapy skills, knowledge and experience. Develop and implement appropriate physiotherapy programmes for CoRSU patients.

 

KEY RESULT AREAS (OUTPUTS)

  • Plans for the physiotherapy services provided annually.
  • Provides at least 120 therapy sessions monthly.
  • Evaluates, prescribes, fabricates and issues at least 10 assistive devices every three months (quarterly).
  • 90% of client physiotherapy needs, progress and appliance prescriptions documented monthly.
  • 90% of staff, caregivers, students, volunteers and visitors to the Therapy unit are trained.
  • 90% of children undergoing physiotherapy are screened adequate intervention given.
  • At least two continuous medical education (CME) sessions participated in every month.
  • At least one-condition-specific therapy protocol development or updating participated in annually.
  • At least one departmental meeting participated on a monthly basis.
  • Participates in information, education and communication (IEC) trainings for patients, attendants and caregivers at least once in a quarter.
  • Refers patients to an appropriate intervention or specialists for consultation whenever required.
  • Daily maintenance of all therapy equipment regular servicing ensured.
  • Liaises with various disciplines/departments involved in client rehabilitation whenever required.

 

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with patients on a one-to-one basis, group, community or special setting based on their levels of function and severity of disability.
  • Provide physiotherapy consultation, support and update about the patients’ progress and status to caregivers and all those involved in the rehabilitation team.
  • Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate assistive devices to improve movement as required by the patient’s prescription.
  • Training patients and attendants on the use of physiotherapy methods and appliances.
  • Evaluates and documents patients’ physiotherapy needs and progress.
  • Refer patients to the respective specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention.
  • Ensure proper handling of physiotherapy equipment during, and after use.
  • Provide on-the-job training for physiotherapists, therapy assistants and volunteers.
  • Participates in developing and or updating condition specific rehabilitation protocols.

Degree in Physiotherapy

Knowledge of rehabilitation of people with disabilities especially children

Updated registration and annual practicing licence with Allied Health Professionals’ Council

Knowledge of Protocols of Therapy Services

Computer knowledge and documentation skills

2 years’ working experience

Experience in rehabilitation of people with disabilities especially children

Good communication, presentation and social skills

Needs to be flexible and creative person

Needs to be able to document all physiotherapy activities in the department

Knowledge of English and at least two of these local languages

Adhering to Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics
