Appropriately see, review and manage patients that come to CoRSU hospital outpatient clinic handling them within the hospital expectations and limits of plastic surgery skills, knowledge and experience. Admit patients, carry out surgeries on them, discharge them and ensure their follow up as well as participating in research activities.



  • Patients at CoRSU are provided appropriate and safe clinical care and Plastic and reconstruction surgery.
  • Assigned daily patient list of the PRS clinical activities handled and surgical work finalised as expected.
  • Participation and development of further research in plastic and reconstructive surgery at CoRSU.
  • Continuing Medical Education sessions for plastic surgery organised.
  • Participate in audit, morbidity and mortality meetings.



  • Participating in all the clinical activities of the department, including surgical work on location and up-country
  • Participate in the training of students in the MMed Plastic & reconstructive surgery programme of Mbarara.
  • Training of medical personnel.
  • Participate in and develop further research in plastic and reconstructive surgery at CoRSU.
  • Organise and participate in Continuing Medical Education sessions, audit, morbidity and mortality meetings within the department and hospital.
  • Any assignment given by the head of department, the medical director or the CEO, relating to hospital work and activities.



Interfaces with: Patients, staff, attendants, supervisors and subordinates, allied health practitioners.




Academic &Professional qualifications



  • University degree in MBChB plus a MMed PRS (plastic and reconstructive surgery) are essential
  • A minimum 3 years’ post-training experience in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.
  • Registration with UMDPC as medical practitioner.
  • Good computer knowledge and skills.
  • Able to work according to established working schedules and time management.
  • Politeness and interpersonal relations
  • Excellent communication, presentation and social skills.
  • Knowledge of at least one local language
  • Accreditation by the UMDPC as a specialist in plastic and reconstructive surgery is desirable.
  • Fellowship specialization is desirable.
  • Flexible enough to accept new tasks and functional procedures.
  • Reliable and honest
  • Desire to update knowledge and skills in the medical profession (participate in CMEs).
