Accessibility statement

CoRSU exists for people with disability, so this website should work for everyone who needs it. Here is what we have built, what is not right yet and how to tell us about a barrier.

Our aim

We are working towards WCAG 2.2 level AA

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international standard for accessible websites. Our aim is for this site to meet version 2.2 at level AA.

This is an aim, not a certified claim. The site has been designed and built with the guidelines in mind, but it has not been formally audited, and we list the limitations we know about below.

Where to find the Accessibility menu

On a computer, choose "Accessibility" in the dark bar at the very top of the page. On a phone, open the menu and choose "Accessibility options" near the bottom.

Built in

What this site does to be accessible

  • Keyboard access

You can reach every link, button, menu and form field with the keyboard alone, and a clear outline shows where you are.

  • Skip link

The first Tab press on any page shows a "Skip to main content" link, so you can jump past the menu.

  • Text size you control

The Accessibility menu in the header offers three text sizes. The site also respects your browser zoom and text settings.

  • High contrast and underlined links

In the same menu you can switch on a high-contrast view and underline every link. Your choices are remembered on your device.

  • Reduced motion

If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns off its animations. Nothing plays automatically and there are no moving carousels.

  • Described images

Photographs that carry meaning have a text description for people who use a screen reader or cannot load images.

  • Plain language

We aim for short sentences, clear headings and labels that say what a link or button does.

  • Readable without JavaScript

Page content can be read with JavaScript turned off. The drop-down menus need JavaScript, so the footer repeats the main links.

  • Light pages for slow connections

Images are compressed and sized for your screen, and pages load no third-party scripts, embedded maps or videos.

Being honest

Known limitations

These are the barriers we already know about.

  • Some photographs contain text

A few images supplied to us, such as event posters and announcements, have words inside the picture. We describe them in text, but the words in the image itself cannot be resized or read aloud.

  • Linked PDF reports are not fully accessible

Annual reports and other documents are published as PDF files that were not made with screen readers in mind. If you need the information in another format, please contact us.

  • Forms are not yet connected

This is a preview site. The appointment, contact and feedback forms check what you enter but do not send it. Please phone or email instead for now.

  • Not yet independently audited

The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit or been tested with a wide group of disabled users. We expect to find things to fix.
