Gifts in kind and corporate givingThe walk has been held every October since 2024. It raises funds for children's surgery and rehabilitation, and it shows that disability is not inability.

At CoRSU, children aged five and under are treated free of charge and children aged 6 to 17 are treated at a subsidised rate. Gifts from donors and partners help make that possible.
The need is larger than the funding. According to the 2026 CoRSU Disability Walk appeal, close to 300 children a year remain on the waiting list for surgery because funding falls short.

A patient's story
Seven-year-old Vivian was born with bowed legs. A community mobiliser referred her to CoRSU, where she was diagnosed with Blount disease. With funding from MTN Foundation, surgery corrected her legs. Today Vivian can stand, walk, run and play without pain or support.
“I truly appreciate MTN Foundation and CoRSU for transforming my daughter’s life.”
“Since CoRSU’s founding, our institution has stood on the belief that disability must never mean inability. Behind every child waiting for surgery is a family waiting for hope. According to national data, 12.5 percent of Uganda’s population lives with a disability, yet 80 percent of childhood disabilities can be prevented or managed through timely specialized care. Every contribution made today translates into a child walking again, returning to school, and gaining independence.”
